Platense Extends Winless Streak to Nine Games

Buenos Aires, April 12 (NA) - Platense drew 1-1 at home against Gimnasia de Mendoza in the fourteenth round of Zone A of the Apertura Tournament, extending its winless streak to nine matches across all competitions.

Platense's goal was scored by forward Tomás Nasif, while the equalizer for the Mendoza team came from midfielder Facundo Lencioni. Platense took the lead in the 15th minute of the first half when Nasif scored a stunning goal with a powerful shot from the edge of the area to conclude a perfect counter-attack.

However, Gimnasia de Mendoza equalized in the 30th minute of the second half through Lencioni, who finished with a tremendous volley inside the box after a mistake by rival defender Eugenio Raggio.

With this result, Platense, coming off a loss to Corinthians in its Copa Libertadores debut, extended its winless streak to nine games and missed a prime opportunity to reach 18 points and firmly enter the playoff race. Gimnasia de Mendoza, for its part, secured a hard-fought point, allowing it to reach 13 points and breathe a sigh of relief regarding the relegation zone.
